First Halloween OOTD + some ghostly visitors!

Hello reader!

Hope you all had a spectacular Halloween! I didn't wear a costume or go anywhere special, did you? If anyone asked what I was 'dressed up' as, I figured I'd just say Al Capone's Secretary :) That brings me to what I wore on Halloween, which will be my first "Outfit Of The Day" post! I also thought I'd share a few of my ghostly experiences. After reading Va-Voom Vintage's Halloween post, I thought I'd share some of my own encounters! None are very scary, most of them are quite heartwarming. First, here are some pictures of my outfit on Halloween.

My first experience, (the only creepy one) happened when I was about 11 years old. I came out of my room, and across from me in another doorway was a man who I describe as having strange electrified dirty hair, and possibly wearing overalls. There were a few men who worked on the railroad nearby back in the 1930's, not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. I don't really know about this experience being all that real. At the time I was freaked out.

My next experience came about 2 years ago. I was in my room, my mom was with my brother in his room putting him to bed. I heard what sounded like my mom's name being called. It wasn't scary, just as if someone came to the door casually looking for someone. When my mom came back I told her what had happened, described the voice, and she thought it was probably my grandpa, her father. We were both pretty content.

The third experience is another comforting family one that happened a couple of months ago. I was at the computer, and I suddenly smelled my great-grandpa's (Evie's husband) aftershave. My cat came in by me and I picked him up and I said, "Hi Grandpa". My cat looked across the room when I said it, which made me think, okay maybe he really is there. I said to my cat, "is grandpa here, honey? If he's here I'm saying hello, can you see him?". My cat looked across the room again, in the same spot! He must have been there. I wasn't at all freaked out, I was so happy he came to visit me.

Those are all the experiences I can remember, but I hope to have more visits from my relatives. I know antiques and vintage items can have their owners still attached, an item they must've loved enough to stick with wherever it goes. So far, I haven't brought anyone home!

Thanks for reading!
Ivy

  1. That's sweet!! My friend used to smell her late father's cologne pretty frequently, especially when she was having a bad day. Thanks for sharing your experiences! x

  2. What a cute top! You're fortunate that the elastic-y waistband hits your waist... I always want to buy shirts like that but they land oddly. Glad you had a lovely Halloween!

  4. Fantastic outfit! I love the berry hue of that timelessly pretty blouse, and think "Al Capone's secretary" was an awesome answer to have waiting in the wings.

    1. I've been loving the wine/cranberry hues lately, it's a great winter color. I just have to find a really nice lipstick to match!
